Too Marvelous For Words

(Alan Hartwell Big Band featuring SAVINA)
2001-10-08
Richard Whiting / Johnny Mercer
One night about 1:30 am FRANK SINATRA called Jimmy, the owner of Jimmy Weston's Jazz Club where Savina was performing with her Jazztet and said he had heard about her, was on his way over and wanted to catch a couple of her numbers. Could she play a little longer set? When he came in she sang "You are just too marvelous for words" and closed with "You Go To My Head". Then they sat together, just the two of them, having coffee, and chatted for about a half hour, making a memory for Savina, that would last a lifetime. He was her favorite singer.
You're just too marvelous, too marvelous for words,
Like glorious, glamourous,
And that old standby, amorous.

It's all too wonderful; I'll never find the words
That say enough, tell enough -
I mean they just aren't swell enough.

(Bridge:)
You're much too much, and just to very very,
To ever be in Webster's dictionary.

And so I'm borrowing a love song from the birds
To tell you that you're marvelous,
Too marvelous for words.

(Instrumental)

(Repeat Bridge)

And so I'm borrowing a love song from the birds
To tell you that you're marvelous,
Too marvelous for words.
